MONO THE ISM

Monotheism. It is the command of God as taught by Apostle Paul when he stated to Timothy:

"For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth: For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, that man Christ Jesus, who gave himself a ransom for all to be testified in due time."

During those times, the people around them had a polytheistic viewpoint. This means they believed in and worshipped more than one god. Paul's mission was to help all to believe and understand there is only one God. In his speech on Mars Hill, in Acts 17:22-34, Apostle Paul pointed out that God is no longer tolerable of our ignorance and desires us to know the truth. There is only one God, the Father, and one mediator, Jesus Christ.

Yet we (as Christians)continue today, not with a polytheistic view, but we have taken on a henotheistic view instead. I don't know which is more disappointing in the eyes of God--Henotheism or Polytheism. God is calling us to worship Him and Him alone, with strict monotheism. He desires all humanity to gain fellowship with Him through Jesus Christ and Him alone. As Jesus stated, and we must believe, there is only one true God and only one avenue to fellowship with God, and we are all being pressed to accept it and believe it. Take on the monotheistic view and stand strong in your beliefs.
